Kai Hansen, owner of the Goat Island Lodge bar, lives on a river island near Darwin, the most populous city in the Australian Northern Territory, with his pet, a female crocodile nicknamed Casey.

The reptile used to entertain visitors to the place and in the process attracted customers to the pub. However, Fred’s arrival in the area displaced Casey, who sought refuge on a catwalk near the island’s heliport.

«Now it’s bigger than her and that’s a problem,» Hansen said, explaining that the male’s forays sometimes mean he has to use his frying pan as a weapon to defend his territory.

A special crocodile recovery team was dispatched to the island to remove wayward Fred. «As soon as that happens, Casey will stop climbing up there. [a la pasarela] and it will reappear in its favorite place», explained the bartender this Tuesday. «And all the problems will be solved», he summarized.
