Millions of WhatsApp users are on alert after that on November 16, in a well-known hacker forum, it was announced that A database with 487 million phone numbers of users around the world of this app is being sold.
This information has been corroborated by the Cybernews site, which detailed that the database is made up of users from 84 countries, including the United States, with a record of more than 32 million telephone numbers.
Another large part of the numbers belongs to WhatsApp users from Egypt (45 million), Italy (35 million), Saudi Arabia (29 million), France (20 million) and Turkey (20 million). Also about 10 million from Russia and more than 11 million from the United Kingdom.
The database is being marketed in the US for $7,000, on British soil for $2,500 and in Germany it costs $2,000.
WhatsApp numbers are being used mainly for smishing and vising, which is why all app users have been advised not to answer calls or messages from unknown contacts or numbers.
So far, WhatsApp has not officially ruled on this situation.
