The New York Yankees decided not to renew hitting coach Marcus Thames’ contract, according to The Athletic report.
In addition to the offense coach, the Bronx Mules also fired assistant hitting PJ Pilittere; and third base coach Phil Nevin.
Thames was a baseball player for 10 seasons in the MLB and was on the New York coaching staff since the 2018 season.
After being eliminated in the AL wild-card game, Yankees management began evaluating the performance of the last regular round. The firing of these three technicians seems the beginning of several changes.
