Thomas Tuchel, manager of Chelsea, was clear this Friday, on the eve of the FA Cup final that his team will play this Saturday against Liverpool: «We are prepared for the fight.» The ‘blues’ coach stated that Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kanté could play against the ‘reds’ at Wembley.
Kovacic recovers from a knock sustained after a challenge from Dan James (Leeds), who was shown a red card for his action in Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Elland Road on Wednesday. Kanté has missed the last three games through injury, but Tuchel hopes he can be fit to play. «They’re both trying. It’s the time of the season to take risks,» the Chelsea manager said.
Those who are still injured, and therefore will miss the final, are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell.
«We want to put up a tough fight against Liverpool. There are many games in a row. Everything can depend on details. We are facing one of the best managers and one of the best teams in the world. We are ready.»
It is a final that tastes of revenge, since in February Liverpool won the Carabao Cup, the English League Cup, after defeating Chelsea on penalties. The Stamford Bridge club has eight FA Cups to its name and the Anfield club has seven. The record belongs to Arsenal, with fourteen, followed by Manchester United, with twelve.
