The World Cup draw, on 22-O in Auckland

The draw for the Women’s World Cup that Australia and New Zealand will jointly organize in 2023 will take place on October 22 in Auckland, announced Fatma Samoura, Secretary General of FIFA, and Grant Robertson, Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand.

The 32 participating teams, eight more than in the 2019 edition, will be divided into eight groups. Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau will also host the opening match of this ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup, on July 20, 2023.

Nine teams have already secured a place in the final tournament, in addition to the two host teams. China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam in Asia; and France, Spain, Sweden and Denmark in Europe.
