Genoa dismissed Andrei Shevchenko as coach this Saturday. This was reported by the Genoese team. Although his team only lost in extra time against Milan (3-1, Leao scored in the 102nd minute and Saelemaekers in the 112th minute) in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on Thursday, it was not enough for Shevchenko to continue. As a player, Sheva is one of Milan’s legends, whose shirt he defended between 1999 and 2006, in the first stage, and on loan in 2008-09.
Abdoulay Konko takes charge of Genoa as interim coach, in collaboration with Roberto Murgita, pending the Italian-German Bruno Labbadia, who will replace Shevchenko permanently. Genoa is penultimate in Serie A, 5 points from safety.
Shevchenko has been in charge of Genoa since November 7, when the American group 777 Partners bought the club. The Ukrainian coach replaced Davide Ballardini.
