Ben Rortvedt’s debut with the New York Yankees is not close this MLB season.

Team manager Aaron Boone reported Friday that the young receiver who was just beginning his rehab assignment has a new injury, this time to his knee.

«He’s dealing with a knee problem right now,» Boone told SNY, adding that Rortvedt will have an MRI on his knee. Him “He was receiving and his knee caught a little bit. We have to see what we have there.»

Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo left Friday’s game with a concussion in his right foot caused by a foul ball.

Manager Alex Cora said Verdugo’s X-rays came back negative. «We’ll see how it goes tomorrow and go from there,» Cora told the MLB portal.

Brett Gardner turned down offers from two MLB teams

Free-agent outfielder Brett Gardner doesn’t appear willing to sign with any team.

Gardner turned down a one-year, $6 million contract from the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a report by Ken Rosenthal for The Athletic. The Atlanta Braves also sounded out Gardner, and he refused to pursue an opportunity with them.

George Springer has a sprained ankle

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was removed from Friday’s game after colliding with the center-field wall in the second inning.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Springer suffered a «minor» sprain to his left ankle and had not been sent for an exam.
