Left-hander Julio Urías, just 25 years old, surpassed his compatriot Fernando Valenzuela on Thursday and became the Mexican pitcher with the most strikeouts in the postseason in the MLB, according to journalist Efraín Ruiz Pantin, of MLB.COM.
The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher reached 45 fans in the playoffs and beat his countryman, also a figure in the Californian team. Urías came out as a reliever in Game 5 of the Division Series against the Giants, in a move peculiar to his manager Dave Roberts.
The Dodgers strategist opened the game with his bullpen, instead of using Urías from the start. Before the Mexican, the usual relievers Corey Knebel and Brusdar Graterol pitched.
