Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Chris Sale will return to the team’s rotation in the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.
«He is still in the rotation. Sale will be very important in what we want to achieve,» Cora told WEEI. «We wanted to use him as a reliever in the series against the Tampa Bay Rays because of the amount of lefties they had, but he’s ready to get back in the rotation.»
Sale returned to the Red Sox in 2021 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, posting a 3.16 ERA and 3.69 FIP in 42.2 innings of work. Possibly, start the series against the sidereal, followed by Nathan Eovaldi, Eduardo Rodríguez and Nick Pivetta.
