Alex Rodríguez’s publicist denies the purchase of the Miami Marlins

Alex Rodríguez’s publicist, Ron Berkowitz, denied this Friday that the former New York Yankees player intends to buy the Miami Marlins; This after rumors indicated that Jennifer Lopez’s ex wanted to extend his sports properties to the MLB.

Jon Heyman said Thursday that A-Rod was interested in acquiring the Marlins if the franchise was put up for sale, but Berkowitz said the information is «absolutely false.»

Alex Rodriguez is 100 percent focused on owning the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx. Any report of him having interest in also buying the Miami Marlins or any other MLB team is entirely false.

Heyman assured that the majority owner of the organization, Bruce Sherman, was considering selling the team due to «the innumerable losses that it is giving and the high demand for work that it entails.» Remember that Sherman bought the Miami team from Jeffrey Loria for $1.2 billion in 2017. Derek Jeter then announced in February that he would step down as CEO of the Marlins.

Rodriguez and Marc Lore bought the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves for $1.5 billion in May 2021, and Berkowitz said his entire focus is on growing this organization, above any other.

A-Rod’s entry into the MLB would be good news, especially financially. The Marlins have the fifth cheapest payroll in the MLB and haven’t made any big sports investments in many years.
