Gary Sánchez’s bad moment seems to have no end. His defensive problems and poor offense (hitting .211 with 22 homers and 52 RBIs) make it very possible that the Dominican is living his final MLB season with the New York Yankees.
If, as predicted, Sánchez will be moved to another club in the next major league season, these are the candidates with the best chance of becoming his next destination.
The Arizona team has a season to be forgotten in 2021, struggling to close the year with 50 wins. Although they have Carson Kelly under control, they might be interested in landing Sanchez in the hopes of seeing him pick up the offense that distinguished him until a couple of years ago.
In the process of rebuilding, it is possible that the Rockies look for an exit for Venezuelan Elías Díaz and agree to give the catcher to Sánchez. The Dominican could benefit from arriving in the park from Colorado, which is known to be friendly to hitters.
This year the Marlins have had four receivers on the active roster and Colombian Jorge Alfaro continues to fall short of expectations, with recurring injuries and poor offense. That may lead management to consider a trade for Gary Sánchez.
In this long rebuilding the Orioles have experienced, anything is possible. Pedro Severino has been in trade rumors this season and Austin Wynns is also not a barrier preventing the arrival of a new defender at the position. It can do Sanchez good to hit in Baltimore.
