As bestas, the new film by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, leads the 2023 Goya nominations.
The Film Academy has already announced the films that will compete for one of the statuettes of the Spanish film awards. Blanca Portillo and Nora Navas have been in charge of reading the names of the nominees. The 37th edition of the awards will take place on February 11, 2023 at a gala presented by Clara Lago and Antonio de la Torre.
Sorogoyen’s ‘thriller’ has a total of 17 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. In addition, in each category of interpretation -with the exception of Best New Actor- the name of one of the actors and actresses of the film has been cast.
Behind As bestas is another ‘thriller’: Modelo 77. The new by Alberto Rodríguez accumulates 16 nominations. Alcarràs, who will represent Spain at the Oscars 2023, has 11 nominations and is tied with Cinco lobitos.
La maternal, another of the films nominated in the Best Film category, has 3 nominations.
Other titles that have not ended up nominated for Best Film, but have slipped into other categories are Manticore, Suro, On the Margins, The Rite of Spring, Irati, The Crooked Lines of God and Little Pig.
